A dainty lavender flower that the butterflies love! Native to the Florida keys. High tolerance to windborne salt; will also tolerate saline soils and brief inundation to saltwater. Will not tolerate long-term flooding. – UF IFAS
Smaller blooms than Liatris spicata, but with more of a spiral habit to the leaves. Fall blooms of lavender spikes, winter dormant.
Very unique silvery round foliage. Beach tea is known for its ability to withstand salt wind and salty conditions. However, it does not tolerate long-term flooding by salt or brackish water.
Salt Water Flooding Tolerance: Tolerant of occasional/brief inundation such as can occur in storm surges. Salt Spray/ Salty Soil Tolerance: Some tolerance to salty wind but not direct salt spray.
